Week 3 ~ Time to Get Serious!

Welcome Summer!

We celebrated yesterday with a mini pool party with the cousins. There will be plenty of pool days ahead now that it is finally warming up to desert weather!

The trial is over, so now it's time to get down to business!

6-22-2019 Day 15: Weigh-in          229 lbs

Calories           858  (722 under)

Steps              1592

Today I had to do a fast for a test in the afternoon. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule it for Friday. The person scheduling had never seen a test like this, so had no idea it required a nurse and medication.

By the time I got home a lady from the hospital called and she said there won't be any problems for Friday. I sure hope she's right!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Yesterday was so crazy!

6-27-2019 Day 20: Weigh-in          224.9 lbs

Calories             1124  (436 under)

Steps                  1070

Before my appointment, I went shopping for a few things I needed. I was looking for a simple scale. Since logging what I eat really needs to be more precise if I want these pounds to come off...now, there is no more guessing about my portions from here out. I also ordered a new bathroom scale. It should come tomorrow.

Tomorrow is another 4 hour fast. Not a fan of these test, but it is helping the scale.

Tomorrow starts week 4, and I've lost 5lbs so. Let's see if it stays off.

Three down, thirty-three to go...

Week 2 ~ Free Trial

Let's see how I did this week.

6-15-2019 Day 8: Weigh-in          229 lbs

Calories             1198  (22 under)

Steps                  1465

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Father's Day might not have been a good day for me to count calories, but this is life, and I will learn how to eat through days like this. Although I didn't eat my whole meal, I do need to learn how to break it down to what I actually ate.

6-16-2019 Day 9:  Weigh-in          228.5 lbs

Calories           2083  (863 over)

Steps               2662

That count was logged as if I had eaten it all, which I didn't and sure was an eye-opener!

I learned logging what food I actually eat, and not relying solely on the menus count is essential.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My granddaughter is participating in her first Miss Arizona Outstanding Teen Pageant this week.

I'll get to watch the "Grand" son Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, along with all day Saturday and half a day on Sunday. He is a muncher, a bottomless pit eater and still as thin as a green bean. His dad is like that too!

Since he loves Fast Food and their playgrounds, I will be dissecting my meal. In other words, no cheese, no bun or half the bun, and minimal fries.

6-17-2019 Day 10: Weigh-in:        229.5 lbs

Calories              686 (554 under)

Steps                  2341

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

6-18-2019 Day 11: Weigh-in          228.5 lbs

Calories            879 (22 under)

Steps                no devices on

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

6-19-2019 Day 12: Weigh-in          229 lbs

Calories           950  (340 under)

Steps                3634

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

6-20-2019 Day 13: Weigh-in          229 lbs

Calories            619  (631 under)

Steps                2058

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

6-21-2019 Day 14: Weigh-in           228.3 lbs

Calories            830 (770 under)

Steps                 2242

As many times as we had eaten out, I was very conscious of what I DID eat.

I'm happy!

Two weeks down, thirty-four more to go...

Week 1 ~ Free Trail

 Here's how my first week went...

        6-8-2019 Day 1: Weigh-in         230.0
                               Steps             2463
                               Calories

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The next day began we instructed to log the food we eat which gives the calorie count...

         6-9-2019 Day 2: Weigh-in          229.0 lbs
                                Steps               2624
                                Calories            2950  (825 over)

Right off the bat, I am over on my calorie count! At least I am honest about what I eat. Isn't that the point of this.

ACCOUNTABILITY!

I forgot to mention that when I signed up, I did so with a 14-day Free Trial.

Perfect!

I will use these two weeks to get into the groove of how it all works.

I was told by my niece, who is also doing the program, too, do the lessons every day.

Each day there will be a quiz of what you already learned.

So far, the questions have been about establishing a base.

As I went about each of the sections of what a day will be like, it reminded me of the Smoke-Free app I used back in 2014 to quit smoking.

By my first anniversary, after transferring $85 a week into savings, I had over $4400.

But, I DID NOT SMOKE! And each year, those savings go toward our journey.

Which is why part of the reason I gained weight. The hand to mouth with food is the same motion as the cigarette to lips. Having my Thyroid stop working during this time contributed to most of it.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

          6-10-2019 Day 3: Weigh-in          229.0 lbs
                                  Steps               1073
                                  Calories            1322  (61 over)

 I'm seeing the reason for logging my food. I must get better at this!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

         6-11-2019 Day 4: Weigh-in          228 lbs
                                 Steps              1465
                                 Calories           1257  (57 over)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

         6-12-2019 Day 5: Weigh-in          228 lbs
                                 Steps               2312
                                 Calories            1111  (99 under)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

          6-13-2019 Day 6: Weigh-in          228 lbs
                                 Steps                1465
                                 Calories             1119  (91 under)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

          6-14-2019 Day 7: Weigh-in          228 lbs
                                 Steps                1465
                                 Calories              968  (232 under)

One week down, 35 to go...I won't bore you with all these numbers each week. Just wanted to show how this part was integrated into the plan.

I'm getting the hang of it though, and even see my grocery shopping is changing already!

Let's Do This...

It was supposed to be a fun day of splashing, floating, water sliding, mingling, and clicking of my camera!

A day like this requires a swimsuit, though!

Since I have gained this weight, a dear friend who lost hers, handed her swimsuits down to me, when we went on our Colorado River Adventure, and I had nothing to wear. That was 2017, so, unfortunately, I'm a bit broader now, allowing the once loose-fitting suits to be rather tight. After a few try-on's, I decided on one and headed to the park.

After a few hours, I was done. Getting in and out of the lazy river was difficult. Standing along the edge for pictures was uncomfortable as I felt eyes shame the old fat lady. I had forgotten my sunhat, so I had no protection for my face and shoulders. Sunscreen isn't enough for me. Once the pizza, chicken nuggets, and fries were gone, I headed home, discouraged I had limits and at the same time realizing what needed to happen.

When I got on my laptop, I went straight to a website I had seen advertised called Noom. As I went through the process of joining, I choose to do an eight-month program, intending to look good for next summer, and our end of summer cruise to Alaska that has already been booked last month.

Since I had been to the doctors recently, I knew my weight was 234. I  was surprised when I stepped on my scale, and it showed 230, yay, we're off to a good start!

Here we go...

        6-8-2019 Day 1: Weigh-in         230.0
                               Steps             2463
                               Calories
